Zapata is depicted half muerto, his other-self a calaca Azteca danzante warrior. During the Mexican Revolution of 1910 Zapata led the indigenous peasants of Morelos in a struggle for "Tierra y Libertad." He gave his life fighting for the freedom of his people.This design is the original logo of the Teatro group Los Mascarones from Morelos, who keep the spirit of Zapata and the Nahuatl culture alive through theater and teaching.
